About the film
Ivan has just left school, failed to get into university and has no idea what to do next. He takes a job as a courier for a science magazine, where he delivers a parcel to a professor's flat and meets his daughter, Katya.
Ivan answers every adult question with absurd jokes. Shakhnazarov's film captures the mood of Soviet teenagers in the mid-1980s: bored, ironic and waiting for something to change.
The Courier was a cult film for a generation and won a prize at the Moscow film festival.
