About the film
A new road is being built, and the garage co-operative of a scientific institute must cut four members. The board has quietly decided who goes, so the general meeting, held in a natural history museum, should take five minutes.
It takes all night. Among the stuffed animals, respected scientists turn into schemers, cowards and, sometimes, heroes. Liya Akhedzhakova's small, furious Malayeva is unforgettable.
Garage is Ryazanov's sharpest satire: a single room, a single night, and a whole society on display. It is a must for anyone interested in late-Soviet life.
