About the film

Maria Konovalova arrives from the countryside to visit her daughter Nina in a provincial city. She is warm, generous, very loud and completely sure she knows best.

Nina is divorcing, the granddaughter is a strange little girl in sunglasses, and Maria's ex-husband is drinking himself to nothing. Maria throws herself into it all, and the results are funny and painful.

Nonna Mordyukova gives one of her greatest performances in this bittersweet comedy about family, change and belonging.
