About the film
In the provincial town of Chernomorsk, the 'great schemer' Ostap Bender learns that a modest office clerk, Alexander Koreiko, is secretly a millionaire. With three hapless sidekicks and an old car named Antelope, he sets out to make Koreiko share.
Sergei Yursky plays Bender as a charming, ironic dreamer, and the film follows him all the way to Central Asia, where the million turns out to be harder to enjoy than to win.
It is the sequel to The Twelve Chairs and an elegant, black-and-white adaptation of one of the great Russian comic novels.
