About the film
Volodya, a young worker from Siberia who has just had a story published, arrives in Moscow for a day. He meets Kolya, a cheerful metro worker played by an 18-year-old Nikita Mikhalkov, and Sasha, who is about to get married.
Nothing dramatic happens: a wedding, a summer rain, a girl in a record shop, a lot of walking. Danelia captures the sunny optimism of the early 1960s like no other film.
Its title song, written by Andrei Petrov with words by Gennady Shpalikov, is one of the best-known songs about Moscow.
