About the film
Before the war Vasya Govorukhin raises a spirited horse called Buyan. The stable's head trainer doubts the horse, but Vasya believes in him.
When the Germans invade, Vasya and Buyan join a partisan unit. The film is packed with gallops, jumps, chases and trick riding, and the horse is as much a hero as the people.
Often called the first Soviet Western, Brave People was the biggest box-office hit of its year and was loved by a generation of children.
